About the Course
Our Year 2 WEMT (Writing, English, Maths, Thinking Skills) course is thoughtfully designed to challenge and inspire young learners, guiding them beyond the standard school curriculum and toward the advanced academic benchmarks we uphold at Pre-Uni New College.
Through a carefully structured program that integrates writing, English, mathematics, and thinking skills, students are not only exposed to enriched content but also encouraged to develop confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning.
Year 2 WEMT Course Outline
✍️ Writing
The Writing module focuses on developing clear and effective writing structures while strengthening students’ critical thinking and reasoning abilities. Through targeted exercises and guided practice, students learn to organise their ideas logically, construct persuasive arguments, and refine their analytical skills across a range of writing tasks.
➗ Mathematics
The Mathematics lessons play a vital role in helping students develop a deep understanding of mathematical theories, principles, and formulas. Through structured practice and problem-solving activities, students learn to apply these concepts confidently and accurately across a range of question types.
📖 English
The English lessons are designed to strengthen reading skills, with a particular focus on practising reading comprehension and answering multiple-choice questions. Students engage with a variety of texts to build confidence, accuracy, and speed in understanding and responding to key ideas and details.
🧠 Thinking Skills
Engage in stimulating exercises designed to strengthen critical thinking and sharpen problem‑solving skills. These activities encourage students to analyse, reason, and apply strategies with confidence across a variety of contexts.
